Zelenskyy expects United States to never seriously think about leaving NATO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expects that the United States will never withdraw from NATO member states, otherwise, in his opinion, many countries will be lost to the world.

"I don't know who will be the president of the United States. I hope that the United States will never leave NATO, because otherwise the world will lose a lot of countries. A lot of countries, because people like Putin... we will lose small states that count on America in NATO. We will lose the Baltic countries, Poland and other countries that are very attentive to this topic. I hope that the United States will never seriously think about leaving NATO," he said during a conversation with American journalist Bret Baier at the Reagan Institute in Washington.

He also expressed the hope that if Trump is elected president in the November elections, his policy on Ukraine will not change.

Asked if Zelenskyy thought Trump could change his Ukraine policy overnight, he said: "I don't know him that well. I've had meetings with him. We had good meetings when he was president. But we didn't go through the war with him. And only during the war can you understand whether you can count on someone or not, because during the war the situation is different - it's a very difficult situation, with challenges."

"So I can't say what he will do if he becomes president of the United States. I don't know. I read his messages yesterday on Twitter. They were, let's say, with questions. So sometimes we need answers. It is very important for us that we have not lost the unity of people. So that they have high morals. So that we do not lose unity between our partners. That's why such messages sometimes hit us and divide us," he stated.
