Shmyhal instructs urgent development of mechanism for humanitarian gas distribution in Donetsk region, allowing locals harvesting firewood

The Energy Ministry, the Economy Ministry, and the Finance Ministry of Ukraine, along with the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration, have been instructed to urgently develop a mechanism for distributing humanitarian aid in the form of liquefied gas for the needs of household consumers, in particular in Donetsk region, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday via video link.
The head of government, who is on a working visit to Donetsk region, also gave instructions to allow residents of frontline communities to independently harvest firewood for the heating season.
"Preparations for winter near the front line. A big challenge that we are actively working on. In many communities, wood is the main means of heating premises. Therefore, the Environmental Policy Ministry is instructed to develop a regulatory legal act that will give the green light for residents of populated areas to independently harvest wood. This procedure must be clearly regulated so that people can prepare a sufficient amount of firewood without damaging our forests," Shmyhal said.
