Ukraine completes implementation of European Commission’s four recommendations to provide negotiating framework for EU membership

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna says that Ukraine has completed the implementation of four recommendations received from the European Commission to provide a negotiating framework for membership in the European Union.

"The deadline has passed today when we could provide some additional information. On March 12-14, the European Commission must make a decision. First of all, it is to approve a report on our fulfillment of additional criteria, as well as to decide whether to provide us with a negotiating framework for the member states to approve it," she told reporters at the event Fighting Corruption in Ukraine: progress towards EU membership in Kyiv on Monday.

Stefanishyna also said that the law enforcement Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Monday approved the latest legislative act, which is needed to complete recommendations regarding lobbying - approved changes to administrative legislation introducing liability for violations of legislation on lobbying, which was adopted earlier.

"Therefore, optimistic forecasts are restrained. After this decision, we will work intensively with the capitals," she added.

In turn, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Katarina Mathernova, noted that the next important step will be the consideration and adoption of the negotiating framework by the EU member states.
