Ukrainian Film Academy urges to abandon European Film Festival in Russia

The Ukrainian Film Academy has issued an appeal to the organizers of the European Film Festival to refuse to hold it on the territory of the Russian Federation.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Film Academy has expressed an active position and called for a boycott of Russian cinema and cooperation with its representatives. Our appeal was supported by many international institutions, organizations and companies, for which we are very grateful. Nevertheless, the festival, held under the auspices of the European Union representation in Russia, resumes its work after a year-long break caused by Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine," the press service of the Film Academy said on Monday.

As reported, the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema is outraged by the holding of the European Film Festival in the Russian Federation. The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine also considers the announcement of the European Film Festival in the Russian Federation to be an "annoying misunderstanding".
