Embassy of Ireland in Ukraine organizes special screening of the film "Mrs. Robinson" about the country's first female president

A special screening of the film "Mrs. Robinson" about the first female president of Ireland, Mary Robinson (1990-1997), took place on March 27 in Kyiv under the patronage of the Embassy of Ireland in Ukraine and in cooperation with the women-led global campaign for climate justice Project Dandelion.
The screening was attended by heads of diplomatic missions of foreign countries accredited in Ukraine, representatives of government authorities, including Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Andriy Najos, members of the Verkhovna Rada, educators and representatives of the Irish community in Kyiv.
Before the screening, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland to Ukraine, Jonathan Conlon, told the audience about the main achievements of Mary Robinson. After her presidency, she served as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997-2002), and later became Chair of the Nelson Mandela-founded Council of Elders (2018-2024), an independent group of world leaders working for peace, justice and human rights.
Robinson is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom from US President Barack Obama. She has remained a champion for gender equality, women’s participation in peacebuilding, human dignity and climate justice for half a century.
