Stefanishyna: by year end, it may be necessary to implement extra agreements with EU members for their consent to begin accession talks

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna admits that Ukraine will need to implement additional agreements with the member states of the European Union by the end of the year as a condition for their agreement to begin the accession negotiation process.

"Today, even the most skeptical states that doubted whether it was worth granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for membership support Ukraine's movement towards negotiations, since this is equally important for both Ukraine and the countries of the Western Balkans, Moldova, Georgia," Stefanishyna said on a national telethon on Wednesday.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Ukraine feels support, but will negotiate with each country separately.

"This means that before the end of this year, we may need to implement additional agreements that will arise from member states as conditions for their agreement to begin the negotiation process," she added.
