UNICEF handed over 15 mobile security classes to the State Emergency Service and the National Police to raise public awareness of mine threats, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"We are starting to implement an initiative to raise public awareness of mines and other threats, in particular in de-occupied and front-line territories. As part of this project, UNICEF handed over 15 mobile safety classes to the State Emergency Service and the National Police. These are specially equipped vehicles in which they will inform and train people, including children," Shmyhal wrote on the Telegram channel.

The Prime Minister said that as of today, 174,000 square kilometers of territory in Ukraine are contaminated with mines or unexploded shells. As a result of explosions involving explosive objects, almost 250 people were killed and about 500 more were injured.

"The initiative of mobile safety classes is designed to protect people from this threat and other wartime challenges. Such classes will go to communities in ten regions of Ukraine. In the future we will expand and attract even more communities," he added.
