Zelenskyy: Death of foreign volunteers confirms how close war against Ukraine is to everyone who values human life

The death of two foreign volunteers near the town of Chasiv Yar shows how close the war in Ukraine is for everyone in the world who values human life, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address on Sunday.

"Today, near the town of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region, Russian terrorists attacked a volunteer vehicle. A direct hit from an anti-tank missile system. As of this time, we know for sure that Anthony Ignat of Canada was killed. Unfortunately, Emma Igual of Spain is also likely to have been killed," he said.

According to Zelensky, two other volunteers were taken to Dnipro hospitals – German citizen Mawick Ruben and Swedish citizen Johan Mathias. They are being provided with the necessary assistance.

"Russian shelling once again confirms how close the war against Ukraine is to everyone in the world who truly values human life and who believes it is the common moral duty of humanity to stop terror and defeat evil," the president said.

Earlier it was reported that two foreign volunteers of the humanitarian organization "Road to Relief" were killed and two more were wounded when they came under fire in a car near the town of Chasov Yar, Donetsk region on Saturday morning, the organization reported on Instagram.
