Kuleba: China doesn't negotiate with European countries on territorial concessions of Ukraine in favor of Russia

European diplomats do not confirm reports that Chinese Special Representative Li Hui has put forward a demand to recognize the occupied territories of Ukraine for Russia, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said, commenting on a publication of The Wall Street Journal.

"I have immediately contacted my colleagues in the capitals that he visited, and none of them confirms that there were even talks about recognizing for Russia those territories where Russia is now located in Ukraine," Kuleba said during a video broadcast on his Facebook page.

He urged the public to maintain common sense and assured that the situation was under control.

"No one will do anything against us behind Ukraine's back, because we have built trusting relationships with all key partners," he stressed.

Kuleba also indicated that Ukraine would continue to engage in dialogue with China, relying on its principled positions.

"The first is the exclusive mutual respect for territorial integrity. The second is that we, in principle, will not consider any initiatives that provide for any legal or actual territorial concessions of Ukraine. And the third is no freezing of the conflict. Ukraine will win. This is the firm position of the president, my firm position, and we will proceed solely from these fundamental provisions," the minister said.

As reported earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Chinese special envoy Li Hui last week urged European officials to end the conflict in Ukraine before it escalated. The publication also reported that a diplomat (probably European, but unnamed) who spoke with Li explained that freezing the conflict was not beneficial to international interests and that Europe would not withdraw its support for Ukraine.
