Russian military occupies Slavutych, death of three people confirmed – city mayor

The Russian military occupied Slavutych, and the death of three people was also confirmed, Mayor Yuriy Fomichov said.

"Slavutych has been under occupation since today. We steadfastly defended our city. Three days ago we received an ultimatum to surrender it without a fight, but our military, the National Police decided to defend the city. They could not do otherwise, they are military, they work for this," Fomichov said in a video message on Saturday evening.

The mayor also confirmed the death of three residents of the city.

"Three deaths have been confirmed so far. We have not yet recognized all of them. Therefore, I appeal to relatives and friends, to those who may know the dead: call the hospital and help find out people, who they are, their names. Among them there are also peaceful residents."

Fomichov added that negotiations are underway to open green corridors for the evacuation of city residents.

"Via green corridors, evacuation, departure of people – this is what we are talking about. We are in negotiations. As soon as there is official information, I will let you know. Anyone wishing to leave the city will be able to do so," the mayor stressed.
