Russian occupation troops unsuccessfully tried to break into Chernihiv on Wednesday, suffered losses and retreated, according to the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

"The invaders tried to break into Chernihiv, but the Territorial Defense was waiting for them. The enemy suffered significant losses and retreated. The soldiers of the Territorial Defense hold their positions and increase the number of fortifications. Victory is ours!" the message says.

Since the beginning of the day, units of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed two Su-30SM aircraft in Odesa region, a Ka-52 helicopter near Mykolaiv and one Su-34 aircraft in Chernihiv region.

"The Russian occupiers continue to brazenly violate the norms of International Humanitarian Law by launching missile and bomb attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, residential areas, shelling columns of civilians from artillery systems and multiple launch rocket systems while evacuating from areas of active hostilities. Facts of holding civilians hostage, robbery of the local population, looting and kidnapping of people are recorded," the Ministry of Defense said in its recent information as of 18:00.
