Lavrov to discuss humanitarian corridor from Mariupol with relevant authorities – Kuleba

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will discuss the humanitarian corridor from Mariupol with the relevant authorities, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

"I came here with a humanitarian purpose, to walked out from the meeting with the decision to arrange a humanitarian corridor in and from Mariupol... Unfortunately, Minister Lavrov was not in a position to commit himself to it, but he will correspond with respective authorities on this issue," Kuleba said at a press conference following talks with Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Mevlut Cavusoglu in Antalya on Thursday.

Kuleba said he sincerely hopes that Minister Lavrov will communicate with those in Russia who make such decisions, and the humanitarian corridor will still work.

"I remain hopeful that Russia is purely out of human considerations, out of human sympathy for those who suffer from their bullets, their bombs in Mariupol, including babies, thousands of whom are now on the verge of death due to lack of necessary medicines, at least for these reasons, they will allow the functioning of the humanitarian corridor from Mariupol, as well as the humanitarian corridors that operate, for example, from the direction of Sumy to Poltava," the minister said.
