Putin's plan to recruit fighters from Syria dumb move to inspire fear – retired U.S. general, military analyst Hertling

Retired U.S. Army General Mark Herting, current military analyst on national security and military affairs, believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin's plan to recruit militants from Syria for the war with Ukraine is a "dumb move to inspire fear."

Earlier, information about this intention of Putin appeared in the media with reference to the U.S. Pentagon.

"Fighters who don't know the terrain, the situation, or the type of fight they would be thrown into. It's a propaganda ploy to instill fear. And another dumb move. Shows he's losing big," the American general wrote on his Twitter page.

According to him, this is how he answered the relevant question put to him by CNN.

Hertling commanded the United States Army in Europe and the Seventh Army. He served in planning, operations, and training positions, and commanded all organizations from platoon to field army. He commanded the first Armored Division in Iraq.
