Ukraine records 6,988 COVID-19 cases per day, 16,106 people recovered – Stepanov

As of Tuesday morning, some 6,988 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease were recorded in Ukraine, some 16,106 people recovered and 232 patients died, Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said.

"Some 6,988 new cases of COVID-19 disease were recorded in Ukraine as of December 29, 2020. In particular, 324 children and 337 medical workers fell ill. Some 1,298 people were hospitalized, 232 people died and 16,106 people recovered over the past day," Stepanov wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

A day earlier, on December 28, some 4,835 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded; on December 27, some 6,113 new cases were recorded; on December 26, some 7,709 new cases of COVID-19 were reported; on December 25, some 11,035 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, on December 24 it was reported about 11,490 new cases of the disease. The number of infected people since the beginning of the pandemic on Tuesday morning was 1.037 million people, some 18,081 people died from COVID-19, and 681,835 people recovered.

Over the past day, the largest number of confirmed cases was registered in Kyiv city (953), Odesa (729), Poltava (644), Lviv (555) and Zaporizhia (514) regions.
