Office of President advises against manipulating information until circumstances of air crash in Iran clarified

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky heard a report of the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) flight PS752 accident response team, the Office of the President has reported.

"Several versions of the causes of the crash of the plane are being worked out. At the same time, during the meeting chaired by Zelensky, it was noted that while experts do not investigate the circumstances of the tragedy, it is not worth manipulating the information," the press service of the office said.

Relatives of Ukrainians who died in Iran are provided with psychological assistance.

"The state will make sure that families receive all insurance payments," the press service said.

In addition, DNA reference samples are being collected from relatives of the deceased Ukrainians. One of the main tasks of the response team is the identification and repatriation of bodies from Iran.

Iran, in turn, has announced readiness to extend all necessary assistance in order to ensure a thorough investigation into the catastrophe.

On January 9, Zelensky is due to have phone conversations with officials of the countries whose citizens were killed in the crash.

An airplane landed in Iran at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, delivering 45 different Ukrainian specialists with a vast record of investigating air accidents and industrial disasters, the Office of the President said.

A Boeing 737-800 passenger plane operated by UIA crashed shortly after takeoff from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran early on Wednesday morning, killing all passengers and crew onboard, more than 170 people.

The Ukrainian embassy to Iran said that according to tentative information, the crash was due to engine failure, ruling out a possible terrorist act for now.

Carrier UIA, in turn, has said that it does not see crew error among the possible causes of the Boeing 737-800 crash. In the wake of the accident, Zelensky cut short his visit to Oman. He has advised against putting forth unverified theories for the plane crash.
