Interference in U.S. presidential election carried out by U.S. citizens, top officials from Ukraine's territory – Lutsenko
Yuriy Lutsenko, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, has said interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election was carried out from the territory of Ukraine by American citizens.
"I take the opportunity and I deny it [Ukrainian interference]. I think that the interference in the American elections was carried out from the territory of Ukraine, but by officials and U.S. citizens who held one or another position in our country," Lutsenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
According to him, such persons were attracted to the campaign to discredit one of the presidential candidates of the United States, "who were favorites of the United States Embassy."
At the same time, Lutsenko stressed that U.S. law enforcement agencies should give an assessment of such actions.
