Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced the completion of tests of shells for the artillery system "Hyacinth" (Giatsint) and the beginning of their mass production.

"The testing of 152-mm shells for the artillery system "Hyacinth" has been completed and at present the state joint-stock holding company Artem will start serial production of 152-mm shells for supply to Ukraine's Armed Forces," Poroshenko said on his Facebook page on Monday.

The next step will be the quick transition the production of shells for other artillery systems, from 100-mm to NATO caliber 155-mm.

"We continue to strengthen the defense capability of the Ukrainian army!" Poroshenko said.

As earlier reported, in March of this year, Artem reported on successful fire testing of 152-mm artillery ammunition of its own production for the "Hyacinth" system. Testing ensured.

The new high-explosive shell is designed to destroy the enemy's manpower, artillery and weapons, as well as to destroy fortifications and objects.
