Helicopter crashes in Krasnoyarsk Territory, 18 people die
A Mil Mi-8 helicopter has crashed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 18 people have been killed, the press service for the Utair airline said.
"According to preliminary information, the blades of the helicopter collided with cargo on the external load sling system of the Mil Mi-8AMT, RA-22427, which had taken off earlier. As a result of the crash of RA-25640, everyone died," the press service told Interfax in a statement.
A total of 15 passengers and three crewmembers were onboard.
The crash occurred at 5:43 a.m. Moscow time on Saturday.
"The Mi-8AMT helicopter, RA-25640, crashed after taking off from the Vankor landing ground in ordinary weather conditions. The commander of the RA-25640 helicopter was born in 1985, graduated from the Omsk Flight School, accumulated 5,990 flight hours, including 2,300 hours as an aircraft commander," the press service said.
The Mi-8AMT helicopter RA-25640 was manufactured by the Ulan-Ude Aircraft Plant in 2010.
