NABU calls Onyshchenko in for questioning on July 26

The National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has sent fugitive Member of Parliament Oleksandr Onyshchenko a summons for questioning as a suspect scheduled for Thursday, July 26.

"You need to appear at 12:00 on 26.07.2018 at NABU's First Detective Department of the Main Detectives Department … at the address: 3 Vasylia Surikova St., Kyiv ... for interrogation as a suspect in criminal case No. 42015110000000121 opened March 19, 2015," says the summons published on NABU's website on Monday.

As earlier reported, Onyshchenko is suspected of organizing a scheme to steal funds during the extraction and sale of natural gas as part of joint venture agreements with PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannia, which caused about UAH 3 billion in losses to the state.

The SBU also announced the launch of a pretrial investigation against Onyshchenko on the grounds of high treason.

Ukraine's parliament on July 5, 2016, gave consent to prosecute, detain and arrest Onyshchenko. However, on the eve of voting, taking advantage of the status of a people's deputy, Onyshchenko left the territory of the state.

He was placed on the national wanted list on August 8, 2016.
