Interior Ministry should draw up plan for de-occupation of Donbas before summer - Avakov

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has held a meeting with the heads of all central executive government agencies of the Interior Ministry system, during which a plan of measures to prepare the Interior Ministry system for restoring Ukraine's sovereignty in temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions was discussed.

"We should have this document this summer. It will include two parts - preparatory and practical. The main goal of the plan is to liberate temporarily occupied territories, restore the constitutional order of Ukraine, protect the rights and freedoms of our citizens," the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's press service quoted Avakov as saying.

Avakov said that information plays an important role in the implementation of this plan.

"We should involve the public in discussing the plan and inform the population at every stage," he said.

The head of the working group, adviser to the minister Ivan Varchenko, said that the working group had outlined all challenges and threats in temporarily occupied territories.

"The working group that drafted this plan has found all the challenges, in particular, criminal, socio-economic challenges, those related to the hostilities, information, cultural and political challenges. We also developed ways to overcome them," Varchenko said.
