Armenia's National Security Service Director Georgy Kutoyan on Tuesday briefed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the domestic situation.

Kutoyan said that security officers were "continuing to fulfill their tasks with utmost responsibility," the government press office said.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Armenian parliament elected Pashinyan prime minister. His candidacy was supported by 59 parliamentarians, and 42 others were against it. To be elected, a candidate must garner at least 53 votes.

The new edition of the Armenian constitution stipulates that a prime minister assumes all powers of government.
