Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said he is confident that Kyiv will be able to organize a football festival during the finals of the women's and men's Champions League on May 24 and May 26.

"Ukraine was extremely serious about organizing this football miracle. The organizing committee is headed by the chairman of my administration, Ihor Rainin. All the necessary capabilities of the Presidential Administration, the government and the city authorities were actively used. The Football Federation also worked actively. The main thing is that pleasure will be received by true football fans, who will turn Kyiv on May 26 and before, because there will also be the women's final, into a real football capital of Europe," he said at a meeting with CEO of UEFA Events SA Martin Kallen on Thursday, May 3.

Poroshenko also stressed the importance of the fact that the Champions League trophy had visited Ukrainian cities in which it is especially important to support football fans, particularly in Beryslav, Kherson region, where Tavriya Simferopol plays, Kherson and Mariupol, which is located not far from the contact line in Donbas.

Kallen, in turn, noted that preparations for the finals had already been held at a high level.

"Of course, there are still certain preparatory moments that we still have to finish, and I am sure that it will be a grand final," he said.
