Presidential administration to seek Rada's early elections – MP Liashko

The presidential administration of Ukraine has decided on the need to hold early parliamentary elections, Oleh Liashko, head of the Radical Party faction in the parliament, has said.

"Just yesterday-the day before yesterday, there was a secret meeting in the presidential administration, according to which a decision was taken to hold early parliamentary elections," Liashko said from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday.

According to the politician, the president regularly holds relevant meetings.

Liashko says that the president's intention is to get a faction of 150 parliamentarians in a new convocation of the Verkhovna Rada.

"The plan has already been made ... There will be at least 100 deputies by majority vote, and 50 on party elections [lists]. There will be 150 deputies in the new parliamentary faction as a result," he said.

At the same time, the politician said that the Radical Party agrees to early elections provided that the electoral legislation is changed, and the law on the election of Rada members is adopted on open party lists.

In addition, Liashko believes that, in addition to early parliamentary elections, early presidential elections should be held in Ukraine, in view of the fact that the level of trust in the incumbent president is low.
