Restoration of villages suffered from explosions at ammunition depots in Kalynivka finished

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said that to rehabilitate the infrastructure in the rural areas of Vinnytsia region that destroyed as a result of explosions at the military munition depots in September of 2017 has been accomplished.

"The promise to rehabilitate the infrastructure in the rural areas of Vinnytsia region that destroyed as a result of explosions at the military munition depots in September of 2017, has been financed and fulfilled, and by the end of 2017 the residents will receive compensation for the purchase of building materials," the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers has reported, citing the prime minister.

According to the report, late September about 24,000 people had to be evacuated from only the village of Pavlivka, over 15,000 buildings and a local school were damaged.

The prime minister reminded that under the government's decision there had been allotted UAH 100 million for reconstruction activities in the region.

As reported, a fire broke out and ammunition started exploding at military posts in the Kalynivka district of Vinnytsia region on the evening of September 26. The explosions almost stopped on the morning of September 28, and demining over a five-kilometer zone began. The depot fire hurt two people. More than 30,000 locals were evacuated.

Investigators are working out four basic scenarios behind the fire at the ammunition depot near Kalynivka. In connection with the explosion of ammunition the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region of Ukraine included information in the single register of pre-trial investigations under Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sabotage).
