Reforms unit to be established in Defense Ministry – Poltorak
Defense Ministry of Ukraine will create a unit that will deal with the reform of the Ukrainian defense forces, Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said at a meeting with foreign high-level strategic advisers of the Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Reform Committee.
"We need to make use of the aid provided by our foreign partners and the Alliance as soon as possible. We will take into account the experience that you have and we will submit our proposals to the Alliance for further recommendations on reforming the Ukrainian army," Poltorak said.
"We must clearly understand and determine the purpose, what army we should build and what it will be in the near future. You are actively helping us in this. We are working together on this," the defense minister said.
Poltorak also informed the advisors that he had familiarized with the proposals that they had developed during the work in the Ukrainian army. "There are many issues in which our thoughts are similar. All proposals are justified and were positively evaluated. And we are already working on some issues," he said.
The minister discussed with the foreign advisers the directions for further cooperation and tasks for 2018 and thanked them for their constructive and fruitful work.
