Balcerowicz, Miklos finish package of key reforms

The Strategic Advisory Group for Supporting Ukrainian Reforms (SAGSUR) headed by Leszek Balcerowicz and Ivan Miklos have finished working on the package of key reforms and handed it to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada on September 15.

SAGSUR said in a press release that the package of key reforms is created on the basis of the government action plan and other program documents of Ukrainian authorities. It consists of important steps to be taken to improve fiscal and financial stability of Ukraine, curb corruption, accelerate development of medium-sized business and improve the structure and operations of the state machine.

"The reforms package includes proposals concerning the structure and procedures of the state machine: decentralization, e-administration, Prosecutor General's Office reform and judicial reform, anti-corruption. Special attention was paid to public finances and structural reforms required to increase economic growth, including privatization, deregulation, demonopolization, reform of the energy sector and the gas market, land market. Proposals on healthcare reforms are presented," SAGSUR said.

"The official presentation of the package will take place in two weeks when the SAGSUR will receive a feedback from Ukrainian leaders," the group said.

SAGSUR is a team consisting of 10 foreign and Ukrainian specialists. It was formed on April 18, 2016.
