Yatseniuk confident of successful final verdict of Stockholm arbitration on gas dispute, 'billions' losses refunds

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk expects the positive final verdict of the Stockholm arbitration for Kyiv in 2016 on the two claims of Naftogaz Ukrainy against Gazprom and compensation for "billions" of losses.

"Ukraine is confident in its position with respect to the correctness of claims and that Russia will compensate Ukraine for billions of losses incurred in connection with unfair gas contracts," he said at the final press conference in Kyiv.

In addition, according to the premier, the government of Ukraine has started a number of other legal disputes with Russia: it has filed four lawsuits against the Russian Federation for the illegal annexation of Crimea to the European Court of Human Rights. He also noted that the International Court of Justice is considering the issue of bringing Russia to account for the violation of the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.

Yatseniuk also said that Ukraine is suing Gazprom in the Stockholm arbitration for two contracts – on gas purchase and sale and its transit.
