President, premier, parliament speaker list Ukraine's priorities in joint statement pending Rada's special meeting

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk and Chairman of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman have listed measures to increase the combat effectiveness of Ukraine's armed forces, the adoption of the national budget for 2016 and amendments to the Tax Code among the country' s top priorities.

"The top priorities of the coming weeks are the following: to increase combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; approve tax amendments suggested by the Government and defined by the President as urgent; and adopt the Law on the State Budget of Ukraine for 2016," they announced in a joint statement published on the president's official website on Tuesday evening.

Other urgent measures include the adoption of decisions that will ensure future cooperation between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund; support of actions by the government and the National Bank on the economic stabilization and recovery of the financial and banking sector; completion of the procedure of making amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in the context of decentralization; and the introduction of make judicial amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine.

Ukraine's Rada will gather on December 17 for an extraordinary meeting to pass critically important decisions for the country, the statement said.
