Yatseniuk visits U.S. aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, NATO airbase Sigonella

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk visited the U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman off the Italian coast in the Mediterranean Sea at the invitation of the commander of the U.S. 6th Fleet and the U.S. Naval Forces Europe commander.

Yatseniuk familiarized himself with the equipment and the operations center of the ship, talked to Commander of the aircraft carrier Capt. Ryan Scholl and Commander of the Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier strike group, Rear Admiral Bret Batchelder.

The Ukrainian prime minister also visited the Sigonella naval airbase, where the aircraft carrier has made a stopover. The armed forces of NATO, the United States and Italy are based there. Yatseniuk talked to Commander of the military base Capt. Christopher Dennis.

"Thank you @ussharrystruman A great day with our Ukrainian partners," U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt said on his Twitter page on Thursday.

As it is reported, the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman has called at the NATO naval airbase Sigonella off the Italian coast in the Mediterranean Sea. The armed forces of NATO, the U.S. and Italy are based there.
