SBU, National Guard, Ukrainian Armed Forces to ensure security of local elections in ATO zone
Representatives of Ukrainian Interior Ministry have met with a delegation of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and discussed the security of the upcoming local elections in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone, the press service of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine has reported.
"The SBU [Security Service of Ukraine], National Guard and Ukrainian Armed Forces are planned to be used to ensure security of voters, election documents and candidates in the ATO zone," the press service quoted First Deputy Head of Public Security Department in the Interior Ministry of Ukraine Ihor Babych as saying.
The press service also said that the ODIHR mission agreed to the assistance of the Interior Ministry in monitoring the election process in Ukraine, especially during mayoral elections in large cities.
