Presidential Administration, SBU assure foreign ambassadors of unbiased probe into Mukacheve situation

Foreign ambassadors to Ukraine have been assured that there will be an unbiased investigation into the conflict in Mukacheve, Zakarpattia region, as well as the intention of the country to avoid further destabilization.

According to the president's website, on Tuesday Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Andriy Taranov, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, and Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Hrytsak met with heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine. They spoke with the diplomats about the authorities' actions to stabilize the situation after the events in Mukacheve.

According to Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Taranov, a detailed investigation will be conducted into the circumstances of the events and personnel conclusions will be drawn up.

"No connections with the authorities or a representative mandate will allow for the possibility of avoiding justice," he noted.

Taranov said that the full might of the law enforcement agencies' will be used against the black market, smuggling and corruption.

"No political force will have armed formations. No paramilitary groups will be on the streets of the peaceful cities of Ukraine," he said.

Hrytsak provided detailed information on the events in Mukacheve on July 11. According to him, over 40 searches were conducted resulting in the confiscation of firearms and other evidence. Four people were detained

"Bandits that committed crimes don't have a right to hide behind the backs of Ukrainian patriots that participate in the conflict in Donbas and the Revolution of Dignity," Hrytsak said.

He also said that together with the Interior Ministry, the National Guard and Prosecutor General's Office, the SBU would do its best to ensure stability in Ukraine.
