"Green corridors" for humanitarian aid working at some check points in Donbas – government

A representative of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) will coordinate the passage of humanitarian aid to eastern Ukraine, and "green corridors" for humanitarian goods will be arranged at certain check points.

"An official for coordinating the passage of humanitarian aid will be appointed from among the staff of the Security Service of Ukraine, who will act in direct coordination with the office of the vice prime minister of Ukraine and the Social Policy Ministry. 'Green corridors' for humanitarian will be established at certain check points," adviser to Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk, Danylo Lubkivsky, said in a statement on the results of a meeting of the prime minister with international humanitarian organizations.

Yatseniuk ordered the streamlining and simplification of the procedures for sending humanitarian cargo to Donbas in accordance with Ukrainian legislation, reads the statement.

"Assistance should be provided quickly and the procedures should be as simple as possible, while quality control should be ensured in accordance with reasonable and civilized procedures," the prime minister said.

The meeting was attended by the prime minister, government officials, the leadership of the SBU, Ukraine's State Service for Emergency Situations, representatives of the UN office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Ukraine, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office, a delegation of the Doctors Without Borders, Caritas organizations, and others.
