Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko expects to appoint the minister of energy and the minister of justice in the coming weeks.

"As for the Minister of Energy, I would personally like to see him appointed. For now, we are responsible for energy," said Svyrydenko at an event on Monday in Kyiv to celebrate the Diplomatic Service Day.

She noted that there had been a conversation and an agreement with the parliamentary corps that the decision would be made jointly. In particular, there would be discussions with the factions that would submit candidates.

"I hope that the ministers will be appointed in the coming weeks. It is extremely important to have a Minister of Energy during the heating season," said the Prime Minister, adding that the Ministers of Justice and Energy will be appointed together.

On November 19, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed the ministers of energy and justice, Svitlana Hrynchuk and Herman Haluschenko, respectively.

On November 10, NABU and SAPO announced Operation Midas, a 1.5-year investigation that exposed a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector, including the laundering of money from Energoatom. According to anti-corruption authorities, Haluschenko participated directly in this scheme. Law enforcement officials stated that, based on wiretap recordings, Hrynchuk was interviewed by Ihor Myroniuk, the former advisor to the Minister of Energy, before being appointed Minister of Energy. Myroniuk is also listed among the participants in the corruption scheme.
