Ukrainian government issues decree to suspend preparations for signing of association agreement with EU
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has issued a decree to suspend the preparations for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, and the European Atomic Energy Community and its Member States.
"[This decree is] to suspend the process of preparations for the conclusion of the Association Agreement between Ukraine, on the one part, and the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and its Member States, on the other part, and to suspend the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 18, 2013 on the preparation for the signing of the draft association agreement between Ukraine, on the one part, and the European Union and its member states, on the other part," reads the decree posted on the Web site of the Ukrainian government on Thursday.
The government also ordered the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Industrial Policy Ministry, Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry, Ministry of Energy and the Coal Industry, and the Infrastructure Ministry to take measures to introduce amendments into state target, branch and regional programs aimed at developing trade, production cooperation and exchanging technologies with the CIS member states "in order to preserve jobs and settle other social issues on the basis of increasing the economic stability of state."
Signing of the initialed earlier Association Agreement with Ukraine-EU supposed to occur during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on November 28-29.
