Co-chairman of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Petro Poroshenko and Member of the European Parliament (EP) and Chairman the European Conservatives and Reformists group Martin Callanan have discussed the introduction of visa free travel between Ukraine and the EU and measures taken by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, for the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

Poroshenko's press service told Interfax-Ukraine that the sides raised these issues during a working lunch of the Ukrainian part of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and a delegation of representatives of the European Conservatives and Reformists group led by Callanan.

The politicians shared their opinions on the fulfillment of Ukraine's obligations with the EU in the sphere of legislation. The sides also discussed the key directions of further law-making and the steps the Verkhovna Rada has to take in order to speed up the introduction of visa free travel between Ukraine and the EU.

"We had a very fruitful discussion," Poroshenko said in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"The European delegation reaffirmed its support for the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and promised to pay attention to the completion of the first stage of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization for Ukraine. We will proceed with our dialogue during a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee on November 13-14, 2013 in Brussels, where we could elaborate our action plan for the implementation of our legislation on the introduction of visa free travel between Ukraine and the EU."

The European Conservatives and Reformists group of the European Parliament supports the signing of the Association Agreement with Ukraine and it has declared numerous times its support for Ukraine's association with the EU.
