Zakharchenko promises all those responsible for disorder in Kyiv on May 18 will be held to account
A man who attacked journalists during rallies in Kyiv on May 18 has been detained, and those responsible for the disorder will be brought to justice, Ukrainian Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko has said.
"We have detained him and are preparing the documents that will be passed to court for the decision to arrest him," he said in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
He said that law enforcement officers would pass a motion to the courts within a day or two on the measure of restraint in the form of custody for the detained 20-year-old resident of Kyiv region, who is a suspect in the beating of a woman journalist.
"I personally assure you that law enforcement officers will do their best and hold those responsible to account," Zakharchenko said.
He said that this would concern all those responsible for the disorder on May 18 in the center of Kyiv.
