Ukraine facing internal, external consequences following Zakharchenko death

1 min read

The death of head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Alexander Zakharchenko may have negative consequences for Ukraine and delay peace, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, the leader of the Civil Position party, said on Facebook.

"Zakharchenko's death, we do not know who issued an order to blow him up, with what objectives, and why precisely now. One thing is clear: this is going to be taken advantage of, both inside and outside. And there are going to be consequences, also inside and outside. Peace and calmness have not become closer - they are further off now, for sure," Hrytsenko said.

Hrytsenko said also he hoped President [of Ukraine] Petro Poroshenko "understands what tasks he has to assign immediately and to whom, on the diplomatic level and on the level of security agencies, so as to contain possible complications on the frontline, at sea, at airports and railway stations, at industrial and military facilities, so that our people should be in safety and could sleep well."
