Lytvyn becomes head of deputy group to prepare for work of new parliament

Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn has become the head of a preparatory group that will deal with preparations for the work of the new parliament.

Such a decision was unanimously taken by the remaining participants in a meeting of the parliamentary group on Thursday after opposition members left the meeting.

Lytvyn said he intended to convene a meeting on Friday involving one representative from each political party in order to "discuss in private the future work of the preparatory group." At the same time, he proposed not discussing organizational issues and added that representatives of other political parties could be his deputy and secretary.

Earlier, while discussing the agenda of the preparatory group, Lytvyn said that the second meeting of the preparatory group would not be held until Friday at 1600, as he will be on a business trip until that time.
