The OSCE will have the largest observation mission for parliamentary elections in Ukraine over the whole period of its activity abroad, OSCE PA Vice-President Walburga Habsburg Douglas has said.

"I'm pleased to report that this time it will be the largest observation mission that we have ever organized over the entire period of our work abroad," the press service of Ukraine's Central Election Commission quoted her as saying at a meeting with CEC Deputy Chairman Andriy Mahera in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"This is a sign of the interest shown by the OSCE in Ukraine. Of course, this is related to the fact that Ukraine will assume the OSCE presidency in January," she added.

She said that 60 deputies from various OSCE participating states had already registered for travel to Ukraine in the composition of the monitoring mission. They will represent not only the OSCE, but also the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and NATO, she added.

In the near future, it is planned to complete the planning of the election observation mission's work, in particular, to create the lists of groups of observers and determine at which polling stations they will conduct monitoring.

The main group of observers will arrive in Ukraine three days before the vote.

"On Monday, October 29, we are planning to publish our joint report, which will assess the holding of the elections," Habsburg Douglas said.

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.
