Zelenskyy, Rutte discuss strengthening air defense, involving NATO countries in purchase of Ukrainian weapons based on Danish model
As part of the 25th meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense at Ramstein Airbase, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“The focus was on bolstering Ukraine’s air defense and involving NATO countries in the procurement of Ukrainian weaponry under the Danish model,” Zelenskyy said on X Thursday.
According to the President, the shared task of our partners is to ensure a strong position for Ukraine to bring about a just and lasting peace. “We also discussed how NATO's platform can be utilized to achieve this goal,” the President added.
Additionally, the parties discussed the work of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format and its contribution to decision-making aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, the press service of the President’s Office said.
What is more, the President also highlighted the importance of launching NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) initiative to effectively coordinate military aid and training of Ukrainian troops.
