Demchenko: Belarus constantly holds exercises, no offensive formations detected near Ukrainian border

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine monitors the situation deep inside Belarus to assess possible threats, no offensive formations have been detected in the area close to the Ukrainian border, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko told Interfax-Ukraine, commenting on the recent reports about exercises in Gomel district.
Various types of exercises are constantly conducted on the territory of Belarus, he said, adding that the territorial defense and other units are engaged in them.
"Belarus constantly issues statements about such exercises. Just as well as about a threat allegedly posed by Ukraine, forgetting the fact that they opened their border for Russia's offensive. Of course, we monitor what is going on deep inside Belarus to understand what kind of threats it poses to us. However, it is worth noting that no offensive formations have been detected on our border as of now," the State Border Guard Service said.
Earlier, Belarusian Hajun reported citing the Belarusian Defense Ministry that on January 8-31, exercises will be conducted for the military conscripts of the territorial troops under the leadership of the chairman of Gomel District Executive Committee. Gomel district has become the first region of Belarus, where territorial defense exercises will be held in 2025. The district borders Ukraine's Chernihiv region.
