France completes training Ukrainian pilots for Mirage 2000-5F aircraft
France has completed six months of training Ukrainian pilots and ground crews for Dassault Mirage 2000-5F fighters, the French Aid to Ukraine channel on the X social network.
"After six months, the training of Ukrainian pilots and mechanics on the Mirage 2000-5F has come to an end," according to the statement on Wednesday.
As reported, in November, Ambassador of the French Republic to Ukraine Gael Veyssières confirmed that French Dassault Mirage 2000-5F fighters would be delivered to Ukraine in early 2025. The ambassador did not specify how many aircraft could be transferred, stating that this should be announced by the authorities.
Meanwhile, in November, the French media OpenNews reported, citing the deputy of the National Assembly of France, deputy chairman of the Defense Committee in parliament Franck Giletti, that France would "soon" deliver the first six Mirage 2000-5F with a "full support model" to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Previously, the media wrote about three aircraft that would arrive in early 2025.
The French fourth-generation multirole fighter was developed in the 1970s by Dassault. It has been in service since 1984. It was the main combat aircraft of the French Air Force in the late 20th - early 21st centuries. It is in service with several countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
