Maia Sandu has good chance of winning second round of presidential elections in Moldova - Merezhko
The current president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has a good chance of winning the second round of the presidential elections, believes head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, Oleksandr Merezhko (the Servant of the People faction).
"The current president of Moldova has a good chance of winning the presidential elections in the second round. She is a pro-European, truly democratic politician. Her victory will mean the victory of the pro-Western democratic forces in Moldova," Merezhko said in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.
The MP emphasized that Moldova has a difficult road ahead, "but Sandu's victory will be a kind of guarantee of the inevitability of Moldova's European path to the future."
As reported, Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova Angela Caraman confirmed that incumbent president, candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party Maia Sandu and candidate of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova Alexandr Stoianoglo have entered the second round of the presidential elections in the country.
