In France, Umerov discusses with Lecornu long-range capabilities, start of French format of cooperation in production of weapons, ammunition

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported on productive negotiations with French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu, the main topic of the meeting was strengthening Ukrainian defense capability.
"I met with my French colleague Lecornu. We discussed issues at the front, assistance, training of our brigades and cooperation with defense companies, production of weapons in Ukraine. A very productive visit. Very productive meetings. More details will follow later," he said on the air of the telethon.
Umerov recalled that a year ago, during Lecornu’s visit to Kyiv, together with French defense companies, the goal emerged to sign direct contracts with them and open offices in Ukraine.
"This year we are already working so that we sign long-term contracts, and they open enterprises and produce weapons in Ukraine. This model will be worked out by our parties (this includes investment from our French colleagues)," the minister explained.
He also reported that the issue of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities and investments was also raised.
On his Facebook page, Umerov wrote that he informed Lecornu about the situation on the front and handed over a list of the Ukrainian army's urgent needs.
“We require additional ammunition and weapons, and France is ready to support us in this area,” the minister noted.
The head of the Ministry of Defense recalled that Ukrainian military personnel from one of the brigades are already undergoing combined arms and professional training under the guidance of French instructors, and emphasized that “France is not stopping there— it is also supplying equipment and weapons for this brigade.”
“We expect that other partners will use this approach as well,” he added.
