Yermak, US Assistant Secretary of State discuss strengthening Russia-related sanctions in Washington
During a visit to the United States as part of the Ukrainian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien.
As reported by the presidential press service, during the meeting Yermak informed about the recent Russian shelling of Ukrainian energy facilities.
"Yermak noted that as a result of these attacks, the energy infrastructure needs to be restored, and also noted the key role of American partners in ensuring the possibility of rapid restoration," the press service said.
In addition, the Presidential Office head briefed about the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, in particular, about strengthening the air defense.
"It is crucial now to concentrate all our efforts for the sake of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. This is the key moment that we must use together," Yermak said.
The Presidential Office head also paid special attention to tightening sanctions against Russia.
"The sanctions are costing the Russian economy dearly, but this is still not enough. We must continue our work to tighten sanctions restrictions. Every day of warfare should cost Russia more," Yermak said.
He noted the strengthening of the sanctions policy against the aggressor state in the sphere of finance, oil and gas exports, as well as measures that call for stopping the supply of Western equipment to the military-industrial complex of Russia.
"The head of the Presidential Office informed about the development of the Peace Formula process and the preparation of thematic conferences based on its points, which should be held in the near future," the press service said.
