Russian forces using three times more artillery ammunition than AFU
Russian forces spent 400,630 artillery ammunition from August 6 to 14, or an average of 44,500 per day, which is three times more than the Armed Forces of Ukraine used some 131,460, or 14,600 per day, respectively, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky said.
"The enemy is maintaining a high intensity of artillery shelling on the positions of our forces in the east and south of Ukraine. Currently, it is using up to 45,000 rounds of ammunition every day," he said, speaking via video link at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities on Tuesday and showing a corresponding map. At the same time, according to the data presented by Syrsky, the ratio of artillery ammunition consumption of 3:1 in July-August of this year is significantly better than the situation that was in January-May, namely 7:1, or approximately 70,000 to 10,000 daily. Syrsky said in October-December 2023, Russian forces spent more than 30,000 artillery rounds daily, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces did up to 10,000, and in August-September 2023, about 20,000 and about 13,000, respectively.
The AFU commander-in-chief said the enemy also uses missile and air strikes on critical economic facilities, civilian infrastructure and key facilities of the state's industrial complex.
"Since the beginning of the large-scale aggression, the enemy has used more than 9,600 missiles and almost 14,000 attack drones. More than 2,400 missiles and 9,200 drones have been destroyed by air defense systems," Syrsky said. He said during the massive missile and air strike on the night of August 10-11, some 58 Shahed attack drones were destroyed, 55 of which were destroyed by air defense systems, as well as 15 missiles of various types.
According to the data presented, of the 9,627 missiles used, after the destruction of 2,429 of the affected objects, 5,197 were civilian.
It is indicated that the enemy used the most anti-aircraft cruise missiles (KR) S-300/400 some 3,008 (19 shot down), KR X-555/101 some 1,846 (1,441), cruise aircraft missiles (KAR) X-25/29/31/35/58/59/69 some 1,547 (343), ballistic missiles (BM) Iskander-M / KN-23 some 1,300 (56), Kallibr some 894 (443).
