State Emergency Service praises Okhmatdyt staff for correct actions to protect patients during attack
Ukrainians have become more cautious during enemy attacks, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andriy Danyk said, adding that the correct actions of the personnel at the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv helped to prevent a larger number of casualties during Russia's strike on July 8.
"It is not a miracle. It is due to correct actions of the Okhmatdyt's personnel. They clearly followed the algorithm and hid everyone in the shelter. That is why the number of victims was small. If they did not carry out all the algorithms, no miracle would help," he said in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency.
The official underlined that the consequences of emergencies are minimized exactly due to preventive measures and actions of the personnel.
"If all this is done, there will be no major tragic consequences," he said.
Danyk also noted a positive trend of Ukrainians showing a more responsible approach to their own safety.
"Currently, there are no tragic events with dozens of victims because people are paying more attention to safety. Now they have understanding of what is really important, and not just in words," he said.
