Govt allocates UAH 16.1 mln to combat Russian propaganda

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decree to allocate UAH 16.1 million to combat Russian propaganda in border areas, the press service of the Economy Ministry said.

As the department said in a statement on Thursday, the allocated funds will be used to create and operate a special television and radio broadcasting system that will block anti-Ukrainian broadcasting in four border regions of Ukraine.

"The government is developing an extensive system of special television and radio broadcasting networks in border areas, which will block enemy propaganda and ensure information security in the airspace of Ukraine," Deputy Economy Minister Vitaliy Kindrativ said.

He recalled that in March the government allocated UAH 137.6 million to nine regions for a similar purpose. Additional funds of UAH 16.1 million will be sent to four regions: Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Zaporizhia.

Previously, funds were allocated to Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Odesa regions.

Part of the amount, UAH 13.2 million, was allocated from the state budget reserve fund, and another UAH 2.9 million is funds saved on previous purchases of equipment for a special television and radio broadcasting network in nine regions that received funding earlier, the ministry said.

The necessary equipment will be purchased and supplied to the Concern for Radio Broadcasting, Radio Communications and Television. Installation and commissioning work will be carried out before the end of 2024.
