Russia's attack on Ukraine from north already underway, tends to escalate – Budanov
The situation with Russian attacks on Ukraine from the north is escalating, said Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Agency (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in an interview with NV published on Saturday.
Answering the question of how a new wave of mobilization in the Russian Federation may affect the offensive of the occupiers in the east and north of Ukraine in the coming months, he stressed that the occupiers are attacking from the north already now. "When they shouted for two years that there would be an attack from the north, we told everyone that this would not happen. There was nothing. At the moment when we said that there would be an attack from the north, all at once: or maybe there won't be? It will be! It is already underway," Budanov said.
When asked if we are talking about Sumy or Chernihiv direction, the head of the GUR replied: "If I start answering this question, you and I will provoke a panic."
"Let's put it this way: there are problems, they have a tendency to worsen," he added.
At the same time, when asked about the occupiers' plans to mobilize 300,000 Russians in the near future, Budanov replied: "For God's sake, let them try."
