Ukraine could spend some UAH 50 bln on road sector in 2018

Ukraine hopes to finance the road sector in 2018 using around UAH 50 billion, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan has said.

He said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday, from January 1, 2018, regional roads were transferred to the balance sheet of local authorities. On January 1, 2018, the state road fund was launched. It is planned that UAH 32.6 billion will be sent to the fund.

"Funds for additional budget programs will also be allocated, namely: UAH 4 billion for Go Highway, which will connect the Baltic Sea with the Black Sea, UAH 2 billion for the road Kyiv-Kharkiv-Dovzhansky, UAH 2 billion for Dnipro-Tsarychanka-Kobeliaky-Reshetylivka, UAH 2 billion for Kharkiv-Bohodukhiv-Akhtyrka, UAH 1 billion for Zhytomyr-Chernivtsi and UAH 0.4 billion for the development of roads in Lviv region .About UAH 6.7 billion is planned to receive from the customs experiment, but the exact figure will be known in the middle of the year. We are implementing a separate traffic safety program," the minister said.

As reported, the State Automobile Roads Agency, known as Ukravtodor, plans to repair the key corridors of national importance using the route principle.

Since January 1, 2018, within the decentralized roads, 123,105 km of local roads have been transferred to local authorities. Now Ukravtodor is responsible for 46,985 km of international and national roads.
